Who we are:

Lauren: a horse fanatic since infancy, my childhood dream was to grow up and have a horse ranch. Though the road had many twists and turns, that dream actually happened! I found the Missouri Fox Trotting horse  over thirty years ago, and one ride was enough to let me know that one day I would own one. Many years would pass before I purchased my first Fox Trotter, and in 2006 we foaled our fiftieth Fox Trotter. In the interim years I severely injured my back, and am sure that the smooth gait of the Fox Trotter is a major reason I can still ride.

I've always enjoyed trail riding, and we often take friends up into the mountain  wilderness that only ride when they are with us. The gentle nature of the horses, and their comfortable gaits allow our friends to thoroughly enjoy our scenic wonders, and travel trails that would make them ache if they had to hike it. "Retired" from my job due to my back, I keep busy with the horses. I feed, train, do books, the advertising etc.

No longer limber, we send our horses out to a great trainer when they are three or four years old. He is not a "gaited" trainer per say, he puts a solid beginning on the youngsters. But the horses gait naturally, they really just need to be taught to stay in that gear and not change around.

CJ: Little did he know what he was getting into when he let me pick out his first horse for him. He didn't have a lot of experience with riding, and now refuses to ride anything other than a Fox Trotter. He can find no reason to work that hard to have "fun".

He has a day job that he must attend to, and then on the weekends (and evenings), is a farmer - keeping us in hay and building fences. Our schedule is such that he probably spends more time in a John Deere than in a saddle. We still have his first horse, he is our Mr. Reliable, our demo model and buggy puller.

And no ranch is complete without a complement of cats and dogs to help with the chores. There is Billy the wonder dog, who oversees every action; Jesse & Barlow the Anatolians  in charge of predator control; and a whole passel of bobtail and tailed cats in charge of rodent eradication.
