Froghorn's Osceola is a pale palomino gelding. Barefoot he measures (with a stick) 14.0/14.1 hands. He has good bone and hoof. With the exception of his one Grandsire, Perfection's Buckaroo Boss, all of the other horses up to that level are horses we either owned or bred, and he is true to our breeding program. He is a solid, natural fox trotter, raised in the mountains of Idaho.
He spent all of summer of 2006 (four months) at a trainers barn, where he had extensive cross country riding. We were planning on keeping him for our own use, so we invested a lot more time into his training than we would have done for a horse that we were planning on re-selling. Since then, we've sold his sire (making him non-representative of our current breeding program) and moved to north-east Montana where we farm 500 acres. We moved to Montana winter/spring of 2007, and while at least the saddles are unpacked, they haven't been put over the back of a horse since getting here.
We pulled Osceola out of the pasture this July and trimmed his feet (he was good), and after a two year layoff, he was in the round pen for about 30 minutes, and then rode for about the same amount of time.
He was a little rusty, but improving with each minute. He was moving out willingly. We will continue to put some rides on him, but his training is solid and still there! Please contact us for more information or to have your questions answered!
