We call him "Floyd" (as in Pink Floyd). Floyd is a cremello, which means that he is a double dilute carrying two cream genes as his color base. This means that he will pass on a cream gene to each of his foals, which will dilute the color gene that the mare passes to the foal.
A Bay will dilute to Buckskin, a Sorrel becomes a Palomino, and a Black changes to a Smoky Black.
Floyd comes from a long line of distinguished fox trotting horses, so along with the color he also gives his offspring the wonderful fox trotting gait. Floyd is a young horse, and his foals are just now getting started under saddle. We are getting nothing but happy reports from the owner's of Floyd babies! |
